| George E. Wheeler, 89, of Bryant Pond, died
at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris on Sept. 15, 2005. He was born in Gilead on Nov. 18, 1915, the son of Herbert and Mae (Maker) Wheeler. He was educated in Dixfield schools and graduated from Dixfield High School where he played football and hockey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1942 to 1946, was a member of the VFW and had worked at Stowell Wood Products for many years. He was an avid hunter and trapper and a baseball fan. |
